Bishop and Queen Play
In this position, white’s queen and bishop tandem will prove dangerous for black. The pin created by black’s queen and rook battery paralyzed white’s queenside play. To break the pin, white will protect his rook via Bd3. Is there any other way?
Ahues-Schories (Dresden, 1907)
Solution: 1. Ba3! Unexpected move.. There is no other way but to take white’s rook. RxR 2. Qh6+ KxQ 3. Bf8+ Kh5 4. h4+ Kh5 5. Be2 mate.
